Reading recoveryAs proficient readers and writers develop early, it is important to identify those students who are experiencing reading and writing challenges. At St Denis School, we are very privileged to run the Reading Recovery Program.

The Reading Recovery Program is an early literacy research – based intervention and prevention program with the prime goals of accelerating literacy learning.

The Reading Recovery Program identifies students in Year 1 and 2 who require extra support. It provides an intensive, individually designed and individually delivered series of lessons. This tailored instruction builds on the student’s strengths, fosters independence and promotes effective reading and writing strategies.

The Reading Recovery Program is supplementary to the ongoing literacy activities in the classroom and aims to provide the students with a second chance to succeed in literacy learning.
