Welcome to the St Denis School Community.
As a Catholic School we are proud to put Jesus at the centre of our community. It is important to take a moment to reflect that we are all made in God's image, possess great dignity and have a future beyond this world. Through the various facets of the school's curriculum we provide a context for each child's natural creativity to emerge.
St Denis School is a happy inclusive school community for boys and girls from Pre-Kindy (3 year olds) to Year 6 where everyone is welcomed, nurtured and encouraged to grow in the footsteps of Christ.
Our curriculum is designed purposefully to meet the developmental needs of all children. We encourage children to develop an openness to truth, a tolerance of different views and an ability to judge critically and become inner-directed.
Here at St Denis the purpose of education is the development of every person from within, freeing them from the conditioning which would prevent them from becoming a fully integrated human being and in so doing enhance the dignity of each person.
A number of years ago the Schools' Commission Report made an important statement about school when it said: "Schooling is not a race; its major objective is not to identify winners or losers but to give maximum assistance to all young people growing up."
Parents are the foremost educators of their child and by sending their child to this school they invite the staff to join with them in this privileged task. We, therefore, are obligated to do our best as educators to assist parents in guiding the individual development of their child. Parents in turn should be supportive of both the staff and the school.
So, it is not only a new child that we welcome to our school but all the members of a family. We trust that the relationship between home and school will be mutually supportive. We are aware that children learn from the significant adults in their lives, not only from those planned learning opportunities, but from observing us in our relations with them and with other adults.
Our school is committed to planning and providing a high quality 21st Century Catholic Education. In our school, families become part of the community which seeks positive Christian values for their children. It is a place where lasting friendships develop.
Welcome to our website. We hope it provides you with the information you need to learn about our great school.
Please contact the school if you would like a tour.
God Bless
